Zipic v1.9.5 — unlock a 7-day Pro free trial in one click, ship the new `zipic` command-line tool for terminal / scripts / AI workflows, plus fixes for original timestamps, iPhone HDR-to-AVIF colors, and iCloud folder startup stalls.
Special thanks to Adam Sébire for four rounds of detailed AVIF HDR gain-map reports since December 2025, and to Fr. Timothy Austin for surfacing the creation-date regression — both fixes ship in this release. 🙌
✨ New Features
- 7-day Pro free trial: unlock a full 7-day Pro trial in one click. Available from onboarding, the menu bar, Settings, and the Pro upgrade prompt.
zipic command-line tool: installs a single zipic command to /usr/local/bin. Compress images from the terminal, scripts, or AI assistants — same results as the GUI.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Original timestamps preserved: fixed a long-standing bug where compressing to a subfolder or renamed output would reset the creation date to “now”, pushing photos to the top of your library. All output modes now keep the original timestamps.
- iPhone HDR to AVIF color fix: fixed a color regression when converting HDR gain-map photos to AVIF.
- Startup crash on cloud folders: monitoring iCloud or other large folders could stall startup for over 20 seconds and trigger a system watchdog kill. Now loads asynchronously in the background.
🚀 Other Improvements
- Help menu synced with docs: added entries for AI & CLI integration, the command-line tool, troubleshooting, and the affiliate program.
